Once there was a computer that simply stared back at me.
Oh, I could play Solitaire, but the rest was a mystery.
I fiddled with the buttons; I clicked on all the keys.
I sped my pointer across the screen like sailing the Seven Seas.
I finally learned the lingo; I could speak Windows with the best.
I read and studied and practiced to keep up with the rest.
The programs were fairly flying; my mouse was perfectly set.
And then I got "connected"; I got the Internet.
So many sites to ponder; so many I could like.
From trucks and travel to recipes or a trail-ready mountain bike.
From jokes and simple humor to fancy shiny cars.
And then I hit the mother lode; I found the cookie jars!
From articles to auction sites, my fingers just would fly.
The message was always the same - buy, buy, buy!
McCoy, Shawnee, Regal, and even American Bisque.
There were so many companies I could add to my list.
I never really imagined so many gorgeous designs.
My collection started growing; I definitely saw the signs.
I would see a jar and love it. My heart would race; I'd pine.
I would bid, then bid again. Yes! That jar was mine!
Then I found a seller - a collector just like me.
In all my years I never knew a person quite like she!
She loved her family and her home; her collections, like mine, grew.
We discovered so much in common - like twins through and through.
One night she showed me how to find the Net's cookie jar chat.
So many people from different states; one common bond, and that's
A love for cookie jars, a love for life; on the cutting edge of a trend.
Laughing, crying, sharing, giving - true friends until the end.
Now if you should ever need me on Thursday and Sunday nights,
You'll find me in the glow of a computer screen, but never any lights.
I'm chatting with my friends, lifetime pals; our spirits are aloft.
So, from the bottom of my heart: thank you, Microsoft!
