Belleville's Auctioneer------Jim Boshears!

by Sandi Phillips

During the 7th Annual National Cookie Jar Show in June at Belleville, Illinois, we needed the services of an auctioneer. Luckily we have just that in ACJA member Jim Boshears!

Jim and his wife Carol have been cookie jar collectors and dealers at the National Cookie Jar Show for many years. You can imagine the advantage sellers have when Jim is their auctioneer with his cookie jar knowledge and natural gift of gab! Jim and Carol are also very knowledgeable in Gonder Pottery and are in the process of writing a book on the subject.

At Belleville Jim gave us a glimpse of his skills when he auctioned off Don Winton's one of a kind cookie jar after the show closed on Saturday. Jim is shown below, auctioning Don's jar.

Sunday morning Jim entertained us by auctioning off a Keith jar from Cookie Jar Antiques owners Keith and Judy Lytle, and a prototype jar of two cows relaxing in a hot tub, from Clay Art. We auctioned off these jars to help defray convention expenses. We want to thank Clay Art and the Lytle's for their support.

There was much laughter during the auctions and we thank Jim for his expertise and generosity in sharing his skills. If you have questions concerning the services he offers, Jim can be contacted at: ccselections@aol.com
